Aid Stations

There are 21 aid stations along the course including 8 water only stations and 13 full aid stations including 10 with sleeping quarters.  The distance between aid stations and what will be available for you at the aid stations varies.  Therefore, you need to review the Aid Station Table and plan accordingly.  On average you will go 9.5 miles between aid stations and 14.5 miles between full aid stations.  Details on the types of aid stations are below.

Water Only Aid Stations – These aid stations will most likely be unmanned and very limited, with just water for you to refill your bottles and hydration bladders.  No drop bags or crewing are allowed at these aid stations.

Full Aid Stations – These aid stations are your typical ultra aid station.  There will be water, an electrolyte mix, coffee, gels, soda, fruit, candy, soup, sandwiches and other hot foods.  Most full aid stations allow drop bags and crew access. Beginning at the Texas Creek Aid Station at mile 55.6, all full aid stations will have some type of sleeping quarters for runners.  Keep in mind that this is not a stage race, take your quick nap and get out!

We will have a detailed list of the various supplies that will be available at the aid stations as the race gets closer.  If there is something you would like at the aid stations, please let us know and we will do our best to have it for you.  For the detailed Aid Station Table click here.

Drop Bags

Runners may have up to 11 drop bags for the race, with a limit of 1 drop bag per aid station that allows drop bags.  Runners need to clearly label their drop bags with their bib number, name and the name of the aid station they would like the drop bag to be located. Drop bag dimensions must be 30 inches by 20 inches or smaller. We highly recommend that runners have waterproof drop bags or store their contents inside the drop bags in plastic Ziploc bags to protect them from water and wildlife.  Your drop bag will be at the aid stations for 4 days and it is likely it will rain at some point over those 4 days.  We will try our best to protect your drop bags from the weather but we cannot guarantee that your bags will not get wet.  It is also recommended that you put extra warm clothes and/or blankets in your drop bags for aid stations you anticipate you will be sleeping at and/or going through during the night. In addition, do not put valuables in your drop bags.  The race organizers are not responsible for your drop bags before, during or after the race.

Runners can turn in their drop bags the day before the race at check-in.  Drop bags must be received by race organizers by the end of the race briefing.  We will then transport the drop bags to the applicable aid stations.  After each aid station’s final cutoff time has expired we will transport your drop bags to the finish area as quickly as possible.  All drop bags must be picked up from the finish area by the conclusion of the awards ceremony.  We will not mail any unclaimed drop bags!  Any drop bags that are left by their runner will be donated to charity.  Please refer to the Aid Station Table for the aid stations that will allow drop bags.
