Pacer Overview

 

Pacers are for the safety of the runners.  At the same time, pacers need to make sure that they are taking care of themselves while they are pacing.  That includes carrying adequate fluids, food and the mandatory gear with them while they pace.  In addition, they need to understand all of the race rules and know the sections of the course that they will be running.

 

 

Pacer Rules

 

Runners are responsible for the behavior and actions of their pacers during the Colorado 200 Mile Endurance Run. Runners will be disqualified from the race if their pacers violate any of the rules listed below.

 

• Pacers are only allowed to start pacing from aid stations that allow pacing from them.

• The first aid station that a runner can pick up a pacer is the first time through the Texas Creek aid station at mile 56.

• Runners can only have one pacer at a time.

• Pacers must check in at the aid station they intend to pace from before pacing their runner.

• Pacers must sign the pacer waiver form before they are allowed to pace a runner.

• Pacers must check out at the aid station when they stop pacing their runner.

• If a pacer cannot keep up with their runner, the pacer must stop at the next aid station.

• No muling!  Pacers are for the runner’s safety and moral support. They cannot provide food, water, and/or gear to their runner unless it is an emergency situation.  If there is an emergency situation in which a pacer needs to aid their runner for safety reasons, the runner will then be disqualified.

• Pacers can use the beds at the sleep stations provided there are unoccupied beds.  However, please keep in mind that the beds at the sleep stations are for runners first, then pacers.

• Pacers are subject to the same rules that all the runners must abide by so make sure you read the Runner’s Manual.

If you want to experience the Colorado 200 without having to run the entire 200 miles you can sign up to be added to our pacer list. Runners that want a pacer, but do not have one lined up will be able go to the pacer list to find a pacer.  The pacer signup link is below.
